We're in the business of creating and converting pdf forms but understand that some people prefer to do the work themselves. We provide training in the use of Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Livecycle Designer to create forms.
If you're fortunate enough to live in a major metropolitan area, you can take a class in Adobe Acrobat. I saw one that was two days long and cost around $2,000. If you're interested in learning how to create forms, I suspect you'll be bored or frustrated a lot of that time. The reason is that Acrobat is a rich powerful tool that is used for a multitude of task and forms is just one small part. You'll be learning how to create interactive marketing brochures and all kinds of interesting things before you get to forms. If you're not convinced, look at books on Adobe Acrobat and see the ratio of pages used for forms.
What's the option? One-on-one tutorial on forms. In 1-2 hours, I can lead you through the process of converting an existing pdf to a fillable, savable format using Adobe Acrobat Pro. You will actually create every major type of field yourself on a form of your choice. I'm not giving a lecture or showing you. You're doing the task with me coaching and answering questions. If you're a hands-on kind of learner, this is ideal. Caveat: there will still be tons of things you won't know about Acrobat and I won't be able to teach you. I'm a form guy. I charge $100 an hour in 15 minute increments. One hour minimum.
One more thing. I teach you what you want to learn. If you already know something, you don't need to pay to go over it again. If something is especially difficult we stick with it until you're comfortable. Each class is adapted for you.
What about Adobe Livecycle Designer? I train on the use of that too but it takes longer. Livecycle is a powerful tool that I prefer for my work. If you're a high tech kind of person, you can probably learn the basics in an hour but most people take longer.
More small print. I'm not the ultimate expert in all the details of these tools. I'm just a professional form guy that does tons of forms for companies. I can teach you to do 90% of the forms I do. Programming in forms is a very complicated process. We include how to do simple calculations, but in general, not programming. We can teach livecycle programming basics or create scripts for you on a time and materials basis.
Requirements:
- You must have Adobe Acrobat Professional version 9 We can try training on version 8 but expect some delays as I remember the environment. If you have version 10, we can use that too.
- You should be familiar with using computers and programs like MS Word. This is not the best way to learn computer basics. If you prefer, I'll lead you step by step but you can find cheaper ways to learn the basics.
